Men's Therapist

Mark Putnoy, MSW, LAC

As a mental health clinician MSW  (Masters of Social Work),  LAC  (licensed Addictions Specialist #195), EMDR Certified therapist, and (ketamine assisted certified therapist), I specialize in working with men with trauma and addictions. I have been in practice for over 30 years and have seen, heard and personally experienced what I am trained to identify and transform so that normalcy is experienced as freedom from pain, emotional safety, and is realized as  genuine satisfaction and love with who we truly are.  There is a method to all of this and I would like to share that with you.

How I Work

It’s really very straightforward. I get to know as much about you as I can to create a safe and transparent therapeutic relationship. This is the most important aspect of successful therapy. My professional evaluation of you will be shared, so you understand and agree moving forward.

Regardless of the intervention we select (EMDR, Ketamine-assisted-EMDR, CBT, Somatic work, Mindfulness, Equine therapy, Tai Chi), it will be a collaborative effort to explore, identify, manage, and heal.

My Experience

It has been over 40 years since graduating  from the DU School of Social Work my experiences are diverse and transcends the therapeutic realm to include, entrepreneurship, sales consultant, Pastry chef, owner of DUI agencies in Castle Rock and Littleton, Coordinator of the Juvenile Diversion Program for Arapahoe County, School Social worker and  Restauranteur. However, the most rewarding would be “Therapist” to those who I have had the honor and privilege to counsel along the way.  My father always said to me, “ Mark, you cannot dance at two weddings and one day you will have to choose.”  My father was a wise man, and it has taken some years but I have ultimately invested all of my time and effort into healing those who choose to take the journey as I have.

My areas of concentration over the past 25 years have been focused on Trauma, Treatment-resistant depression,  substance abuse, anxiety disorder, grief and loss, PTSD and most recently, trained and licensed in Ketamine assisted therapy for advancing a better quality of life.

Who I Am

I am originally from Brooklyn, NY and came to Colorado to attend graduate school in Social work at the University of Denver.  I have been here since 1973 and have celebrated thanksgiving with the same friends, some school mates and their families for over 40 years.  I am divorced after 15 years of marriage and still remain friends with those meaningful relationships from the past.  I like early mornings at the beach or in the mountains and golf is a strong pursuit.  My mother always said to me “Mark, I don’t care what you do in life, doctor,  plumber, chef, bus driver, just do it to the best of your ability every day.”  I have experienced the best therapeutic relationships in the last 8 years of my life and feel I am now doing my best work.  Would love to share that with you.
