My Therapy Style
After confronting my own challenges with anxiety, depression, insecurities, and inadequacies, I quickly realized there were very few resources for young men like me. I also learned there were very few safe places to learn about my authenticity without judgment or predetermined agendas. Over 14 years later, I grew into an esteemed counselor who provides counseling, coaching, and workshops for men nationwide. As a Graduate professor, I am deeply committed to advancing the field. I consistently train graduate students on the latest treatments for developmental trauma, ensuring that Denver Men’s Therapy remains at the forefront of therapeutic practice.
Given my background as a queer son of two ministers, I fought hard to forge a genuine sense of self, distinguishing people-pleasing from authenticity. I took what I learned as a client and used it to bolster my professional training. I believe at the core of every man is a set of desires that get lost—or shamed–in the shuffle of becoming a man. Using techniques like EMDR, somatic-based therapies, talk therapy, and Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, I bring a dynamic blend of skills to help you get to the root of your challenges and the core of your identity.
My Work
Many people find my all-encompassing approach relieving because of my synthesis of research, educational charts, exercises, and personalized interventions. I not only address the root issues but also explain where they originated, how they activate, and what you can do about. One of my favorite sayings characterizes my approach to therapy: “It is my job to work myself out of a job.” When you leave my office for the last time, it is my goal to leave you confident in your ability to live grounded- relationally, emotionally, and professionally.
About Me
During my free time, I love to run. I have run many half marathons and hit my goal of being a marathoner in 2014. In the warmer months, you can find me zipping down the Cherry Creek trail on my road bike. Being creative has always kept me connected to myself and empowers me to think outside of the box. Sewing, cooking, painting, and designing spaces allows me to decorate my world with my energy and authenticity. I believe that our desires, when accumulated, serve as our compass in life and love. In this way, following my creative side allows me to keep life full of vitality and passion. Speaking of passion, another big facet of my world is Friday, my labradoodle. I never thought I could love a pet like a child, but indeed, he has won my heart. He enjoys walks, hates peanut butter, and more than anything loves to chase the soccer ball.
