Gabrielle Shinagle, LMFT, LAC
My clinical approach to men’s therapy and working with clients centers around self-empowerment and regaining a sense of control over thoughts, feelings, and behaviors by focusing on boundaries and the role they play in individuals as well as relationships.
My Work in Men's Therapy
I help men who are struggling in their day-to-day lives work toward self-empowerment and regaining a sense of control over their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. My whole philosophy in men’s therapy is around working smarter, not harder. I focus on boundaries and the role they play on an individual as well as on relationships. Self-empowerment stems from learning and applying healthy emotional and relational boundaries. This is so helpful in coping with mental health issues and relationship distress, which is ultimately the goal.
My areas of interest and expertise including substance abuse and addiction, fixing issues in relationships, parenting support for parents who are in need, helping people heal from trauma and PTSD, dealing with stress management and life transitions, creating self-esteem, coping with depression and anxiety, and some dissociative disorders.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Addiction Counselor, and AAMFT-Approved Supervisor. I have been in the field since 2012 and have worked in a variety of settings including inpatient/residential, outpatient, private practice, as well as withdrawal management/detox. I’ve also spent about a year living in West Africa where I did volunteer counseling focused on trauma, war/combat trauma, post-war adjustment and reintegration, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and gender-specific issues. I have a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Regis University (COAMFTE Accredited) and I’m currently working toward my PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral University (COAMFTE Accredited).
I knew from a fairly early age that I wanted to be a therapist and have dedicated my life to learning, growing, and becoming the most effective and helpful therapist that I know to be. My unique and diverse clinical background has really allowed me to have a have a comprehensive approach to my clients and their issues.
I am a Colorado native who was born and raised in the Denver metro area. As much as I love Colorado, I also love traveling and have been fortunate enough to visit several different states and countries. Additionally, I also love spending time with my family and friends and going on new adventures.
