Alexis Ward

I offer Individual therapy for men and couples therapy in Denver and virtually. I help my clients find their way back to healthy communication and emotional intimacy through understand the cycle of their conflict and learning to express their needs in a more effective way.

These are challenging times. Life is moving faster than we can keep up with. Balancing career, parenting, self-care, and social life, while trying to maintain and nourish a loving partnership, is a tall order. It is easy to lose track of one another in all the chaos and distraction. I work with couples to identify the unhealthy communication cycle they have developed. I will help you to uncover the underlying needs that are being masked by anger and reactivity to create mutually-satisfying, alternative ways of responding to each other’s needs, thereby solidifying new, healthy ways of communicating and responding to one another.
My Work

My focus with individual clients is to help you access your emotions so that your emotional responses can become a guidance system that shows you where you are in or out of alignment. I will assist you in taking full ownership of your emotional experience so that you can make choices from an empowered and centered place. A large part of this process is identifying and rewiring the beliefs and thought patterns that hold self-judgments in place. By taking an honest look at what underlies your fears, judgments, and reactions, we can begin to dismantle childhood conditioning and heal the wounds it may have created.

Self-awareness is not just my profession, it is my passion, and I do not just teach these techniques, I live them. Doing so has added tremendous beauty to my life. This is what brought me to this career path and it is what continues to inspire me. As a transpersonal therapist, I incorporate an existential layer into my work. Exploring overall life goals, core values, and how a person defines meaning within their life, can be an asset to the therapeutic process. It deepens the conversation as a whole and allows a client to step back and see the bigger picture of how they would like to spend their time on the planet and who they would like to be in the world.

I have been in private therapy practice and doing couples therapy in Denver for more than 10 years and have worked with a broad array of clientele. I love working with couples because relationships are such fertile ground for growth. I enjoy working with men because they tend to take a no-BS approach to therapy and typically show up ready to do the work. I am gentle but direct and outcome-oriented and tend to work best with clients who are willing to be honest and accountable with themselves.

About Me

I am originally from the Bay Area but moved to Colorado with my husband in 2013. We now have two small children, two big dogs, and a very full life here in Colorado. I have been a devoted yoga practitioner for more than 20 years. If I am not in the yoga studio, I am usually out in nature, enjoying a hike, or hitting the slopes. My friends generally describe me as fun, loving, and deeply honest.

If you are struggling to repair your relationship or are looking to rewrite some of the limiting beliefs that have been holding you back, I would be honored to help guide you through that process. I look forward to connecting with you either in the Denver office or through virtual therapy sessions!
